Paul Pogba's long-awaited return to Manchester United has finally been completed.

The £89m transfer is not only the most expensive in the club's history, but it also surpasses the previous £86m world-record transfer fee paid by Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur for Gareth Bale's services in 2013.

Pogba's arrival at Old Trafford is a statement of intent from United, who have shown once again that they belong at European football's top table along side the continent's other super powers.

United, however, are used to making such statements.

This may be the first time they have ever broke the world transfer record, which is as many times as Preston North End, but we know too well they are not shy when it comes to shelling out.

In light of the Pogba deal, we decided to test your memory and cobble together United's 20 most expensive transfers using data from transferleague.co.uk.
