Solskjaer on Paul Pogba's Manchester United performance

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has seemingly dismissed continuing rumours of a Paul Pogba transfer, insisting he is “happy with my players”.

Although the English window closed last week, players can still be sold to clubs on the continent — raising the possibility of a Pogba sale before 2 September deadline.

The midfielder, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, made clear his desire to leave Old Trafford over the summer and more recently admitted there was still a “question mark” surrounding his future at Manchester United.

But Zidane is keeping his distance from the saga. When asked today if he wants to add more players to his squad, he said: I am happy with my players, thinking just of tomorrow’s game. The players the same.

We are ready to play a good game, we want to compete. I have the best players here, no doubt, I always say that.

According to Pogba’s brother Mathias, the French midfielder has not yet given up hope of securing a move to the Spanish capital ahead of next month’s European transfer deadline.

Paul wants to go. He can’t do everything at United, he said on Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito.

The player that [Zinedine] Zidane is missing is Paul. It’s not impossible for Florentino [Perez] to sign him.

I can’t guarantee that Paul will continue at United. Until September 2, anything can happen. Madrid needs the football and joy that Paul brings.

After United’s 4-0 win over Chelsea last weekend, in which he supplied an assist for Marcus Rashford’s second, Pogba admitted his future at United had yet to be resolved.

Obviously there have been things said, but only time will tell. This question mark remains, said Pogba.

However, I am here in Manchester. I enjoy playing with my team-mates and I always want to win every game. I always give it everything.

I am always good whenever I play football. It is what I love — it’s my job. I give the maximum each time.
