Paul Pogba to Manchester City: Pep Guardiola 'contacts City over planned £80m summer bid'

Manager is already planning his Etihad overhaul, with French midfielder at the top of his list

Pep Guardiola has wasted little time in planning his Manchester City overhaul and has already sounded out the club about an £80m bid for Paul Pogba.

Guardiola will replace City manager Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season and is expected to quickly bring in his own players.

His immediate priority will be winning the Champions League – a feat he achieved twice with Barcelona – in a bid to establish City as a European force.

A host of world-class players are being touted as City targets, and while Lionel Messi may be beyond Guardiola’s reach Pogba will almost certainly be available for the right price.

The French midfielder has won Italy’s Serie A for the last three seasons.

Guardiola is likely to face firm competition from Barcelona, while Chelsea and Real Madrid are also likely to make enquiries. However, Guardiola is understood to have already asked City about his chances of signing the 22-yeatr-old.

Guardiola is expected to bring in his coaching team from Barcelona and Bayern, including Manuel Estiarte, Domenec Torrent, Lorenzo Buenaventura and Carles Planchart.
