Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal: Borussia Dortmund striker 'available for £42m' - but move relies on Marco Reus

Aubameyang could be available in the summer but it's believed that a pact with Dortmund team-mate Reus will decide his future

Arsenal will have to offer Burssia Dortmund as much as they paid Real Madrid for Mesut Özil if they want to sigh Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after reports in Germany revealed that Borussia Dortmund would be open to selling the striker.

However, they may not be able to persuade the Gabon international to move to the Premier league even if Borussia Dortmund accept a £42m offer as it being touted by German newspaper Bild, because of a pact that he has with team-mate Marco Reus.

Both Aubameyang and Reus have been pursued by leading clubs across Europe in the past, but Dortmund have stood firm over their intention not to sell the pair after seeing a number of their key players plucked from their ranks, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze being signed by rivals Bayern Munich with no chance of stopping them.

Dortmund do appear to hold the cards when it comes to Reus and Aubameyang, although while they are contracted to the club for the foreseeable future, the players themselves may have the final say.

Bild suggest that Aubameyang, who has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham in the past year, has agreed not to leave the club unless Reus does. The Germany international committed his future to Dortmund until 2019 when he signed a contract extension in February this year, ending any chance of him leaving in the summer.

Reus did have a £20m release clause in his contract that looked set to pave the way to a cut-price move away from the Signal Iduna Park, but his new deal has no such buy-out fee and it will take a huge offer to lure the 26-year-old away from the club.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang has been at his prolific best this season, having already netted 19 goals in just 16 games, and it’s believed Arsenal do retain an interest in the 26-year-old even if they hold off a move until the summer.
