Premier League 2019/20: Fixtures that could decide the title

The return of the Premier League over the weekend saw a number of summer signings finally make their competitive debuts for their new sides – with varying degrees of success.

It was a dream afternoon for Manchester United’s three arrivals, with Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James all excelling in the 4-0 victory over Chelsea.

There were also impressive performances from Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele and Brighton’s Neal Maupay – who both got on the scoresheet for their new clubs.

But other new signings struggled, particularly at St James’ Park – where Newcastle lost a narrow game to Arsenal – and at Turf Moor, where a subdued Southampton lost heavily to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

After an entertaining opening weekend, we have rated every summer signing’s debut out of ten. Who impressed and who struggled?

Check the above gallery to see how we rated the Premier League new boys.
