Arsene Wenger has said it would be "stupid" of Arsenal to turn their focus to summer transfer activity when they still have an FA Cup final and a possible top-two finish in the Premier League to think about.

The Gunners boss was being asked about a possible move for Liverpool's unsettled forward Raheem Sterling, however he refused to be drawn into discussing Arsenal's position.

"At the moment we are not in a transfer mode. We want to finish our season well," said Wenger.

"We have put massive effort in since the start of the season to come back into a potentially good position in the Premier League, and now we need to focus on finishing well. We have put so much effort in that it would be stupid not to finish the job well.

"The transfer period comes after the FA Cup final."

Arsenal are among those expected to move for 20-year-old Sterling who this week will tell Liverpool he wants to leave during the summer.

The England international's decision comes despite an offer of £100,00-a-week to remain at Anfield.
