Roberto Martinez whas confirmed that Mauro Boselli, his £6m summer signing, will spend the rest of the season on loan to Serie A side Genoa.

The Argentine striker, who became Wigan's record buy when signing from Estudiantes, has scored once this season.

"It is what he needs," said Martinez. "Then we'll get the real Mauro who is going to be a massive asset for us."
