Thomas Muller to Manchester United: Bayern Munich striker could make switch, admits Philipp Lahm

Germany international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford

Thomas Muller heading to Manchester United is a real possibility, according to Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm.

Muller has been tipped to follow Bastian Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford with reports in Germany that United are preparing to table a big-money bid for the 25-year-old forward.

When quizzed about the possibility of the transfer happening, Lahm conceded that he was uncertain if Muller will remain at the Allianz Arena.

"It's not my decision," Lahm told reporters in Shanghai, where Bayern are preparing to face Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly. "Things can happen very quickly in football.

"I certainly can't provide any guarantee for Thomas Muller (staying)."

Manchester United are on the look out for a new striker with manager Louis van Gaal recently stating he wanted to add "at least" two more players to his squad and teasing fans by suggesting the club are pursuing a mystery striker.

Lahm has insisted he won't be joining any exodus of Bayern Munich players though.

"That's not going to happen with me," he said. "I'm pleased that I've been able to spend practically all my career at home.

"It's great to be in the same club for so long."

And Lahm is not concerned about Bayern, who have dominated German football for the past three years, losing their domestic dominance.

"We're still a top club," he said. "We've reached at least the semi-finals of the Champions League in recent years and we have a top team who would be playing at the top in any league.

"We certainly don't need to have any fear."
