Louis van Gaal could make another move to lure Thomas Muller to Manchester United, according to reports in Germany.

The World Cup winner is a key part of Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich squad, but according to German magazine Kicker, Van Gaal has a 'great interest' in the forward and could make another move.

The Dutch coach made Muller a key part of his Bayern team during his spell in charge at the club between 2009 and 2011, with Kicker describing Muller as Van Gaal's 'star pupil'.

In 2010, Muller described the Manchester United boss as a "a genius technician", who makes players "improve every time".

Manchester United made a move for Muller last summer but it was rejected by the German club.

However, several factors leave Van Gaal believing he has more of a chance to sign the star this summer, according to the magazine. The arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger is one, while Muller was substituted 22 times in matches by Guardiola last season, more than any other player in the squad.

Muller has a contract until 2019 at Bayern, but United would be able to double his current wage to something around €10million-a-year (around £135,000-a-week), it is reported.

However, Kicker does also state that Muller appears happy at the club he has played for since he was 11.
