Tottenham Hotspur have had an £11m bid for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld, according to reports.
Southampton, who the Belgian spent last season at, were also interested but Spurs have won the battle.
It has been widely reported this morning that Spurs have beaten the Saints to the 26-year-old, who will have a medical this at White Hart Lane this week.
Speaking last week, Saints' manager Ronald Koeman had spoken of his desire to keep the player at St Mary's, but now it appears that this will not be the case.
"The player likes to stay, we like to keep the player but it's a little difficulty at the moment with Atletico Madrid," he said. "I have a good hope he will stay for Southampton."
The Saints prospered last season despite significant changes in their squad following the summer departures of Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers.
