Hugo Lloris to Manchester United: Tottenham management to remain firm over goalkeeper transfer situation – video

Daniel Levy, Spurs Chairman, is set to dig his heels in over the goalkeeper’s wish to play Champions League football

Tom Collomosse, Football Correspondent at the London Evening Standard, believes Hugo Lloris will still remain the Tottenham goalkeeper, after the transfer window closes.

Since the end of the season, Lloris has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League. But, Spurs can only offer Europa League football to the French captain.

In order to satisfy the goalkeeper, Tottenham will either have to displace one of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd from the Premier League top four next season – no mean feat; or win the Europe League, a competition that Tottenham were dumped out of last season in the Last 32.

Daniel Levy will attempt to block any transfer for the goalkeeper - similar to the treatment of then star-midfielder Luka Modric in 2011. However, Spurs’ middle management could be persuaded to sell if they can secure £25 million and have a replacement in mind.

This transfer saga is likely last all summer; with any deal for Lloris probably relying on David De Gea moving to Real Madrid first.
