Tottenham are ready to launch moves for a trio of Championship players in the hope of finding the next Dele Alli, as revealed by the Independent.

Spurs have already been linked with a move to sign Coventry City midfielder James Maddison, and now both Moussa Dembele of Fulham and Charlton Athletic’s Ademola Lookman have cropped up on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish list. The Spurs manager has already put his faith in youth, with the likes of Alli, Harry Kane and Ryan Mason flourishing throughout the Argentine’s reign at White Hart Lane.

However, one January target that Spurs risk missing out on is Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, with north London rivals Arsenal reported to be leading the race to sign the Leicester left-back.

The Sun claim that the Gunners are ready to up their £3m summer bid, which was rejected by the Foxes, to £4m in the hope of signing Chilwell, while Liverpool are also interested in the 19-year-old. However, Leicester are determined to keep hold of the young protégé, and will offer him a new contract in the hope of persuading the England youth player to stay at the King Power Stadium.

Tottenham’s move for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino has been put on hold temporarily as Spurs await a signal from the Baggies over whether they are willing to negotiate a deal for the England Under-21 international, according to the Evening Standard.

Having seen four bids rejected in the summer, the most expensive of which totalled more than £20m, Spurs are believed to be considering their options in the transfer market and could hold off another move for Berahino until the summer.

January Transfer window - completed deals

The striker is currently out of West Brom manager Tony Pulis’ first-team and has had to make do with a place on the substitutes’ bench since the end of October, when he last started a Premier League encounter.

West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace is determined to hold out for around £25m if the forward is to leave this month, but Spurs are said to be willing to make a deadline day move is Peace lowers his asking price closer to the £15m mark.
