Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is sai to be desperate to beat rivals Arsenal to Marseille hotshot Michy Batshuayi.

Spurs have repeatedly scouted the 22-year-old this season and French newspaper L'Equipe say Levy has made it clear to the French club that they are after the Belgian.

Arsenal have also been linked to the striker but Spurs are reported by others to be leading the race for the striker who has scored 14 goals already this season.

However, there is a spanner in the works, with the striker offered a new deal to stay at the Stade Velodrome.

If they were to sell Marseille, who do not want the striker to leave in January, would want £24million for Batshuayi - and for the deal to be made in the summer.

Spurs, of course, are keen on firepower now, with precious little cover for main man Harry Kane.

Tottenham have also been linked with another Belgian, the Zenit St Petersburg attacking midfielder Axel Witsel.

However, Chelsea have now re-entered the race for the 26-year-old, who is rated at more than £20m, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea were in talks with Zenit in the summer, but Spurs could hold an advantage in the race to sign him, with the midfielder keen on playing Champions League football.

The north Londoners are currently 13 points clear of the Blues in the Premier League.

Spurs will have to battle a number of clubs if they want impressive Fulham teenager Moussa Dembele.

The 19-year-old Frenchman has been looked at by clubs all around the Premier League and Europe, having scored nine goals in the Championship so far this season.

Former Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor could make his return to the Premier League this month, having been dumped from his contract in September.

The 31-year-old, who wants to remain in London, has been keeping fit with a personal trainer and is said to have offers from both Watford and Crystal Palace.
