Tottenham transfer news and rumours: Spurs given Paulo Dybala boost; Emmanuel Emenike on radar; Paulinho set to leave permanently

SPURS ARRIVALS…

Tottenham have been given a boost with the news that Italian champions Juventus have been priced out of the race for Palermo striker Paulo Dybala, who is also attracting interest from rivals Arsenal. Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim that Juventus cannot afford Palermo’s £32m valuation of the Argentinian striker, leaving the north London clubs to battle it out to land his signature. However, should he remain with the Serie A club until the summer, Juventus would be in a position to re-enter the market as they seek a replacement for Carlos Tevez, who will not extend his contract beyond 2016.

A former striker that has returned to Spurs is ex-England international Jermain Defoe, but the 32-year-old is highly unlikely to sign a deal with the club after they confirmed he is only training with the development squad. However, Defoe is interesting a number of Premier League clubs, and will look to maintain his fitness with Spurs during the MLS off-season.

One striker who could move to White Hart Lane permanently is Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike, with Mauricio Pochettino eager to improve his attacking options. However, a report in the Evening Standard suggest that the Turkish side are holding out for his release fee of £15.7m, which could require Spurs to move on players before they can make a move for the Nigerian forward.

HEADING FOR THE EXIT…

£17m flop Paulinho looks to be one his way out of the club for good after the Evening Standard reported that the club are unwilling to let him leave on a loan deal. The Brazilian midfielder’s former club Corinthians are interested in taking the 26-year-old back, but face competition from Cruzeiro, Inter Milan and Schalke for his signature, with the Italian side reported to have had a bid below £10m rejected.

The same report also reveals that Emmanuel Adebayor and Aaron Lennon will be allowed to leave the club if the right offer comes in, although the Togolese striker’s £100,000-a-week wages could prove a problem.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has urged the club to hijack Spurs’ move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The Frenchman has been linked with a £20m-plus move to another Premier League team with Spurs said to be leading the way. However, Arsenal are also in the running and Murphy told TalkSport: “He’s only 25 years old. Yes, he’s signed a new contract but you could get him out of Southampton because he’s an ambitious boy. He’s got Premier League experience and wouldn’t need time to adjust. He’s a really good player.”
