Transfer deadline day summer 2019: The deals done so far

Manchester United are negotiating with Christian Eriksen's representatives, in order to try and secure a £50m deal for the Tottenham Hotspur playmaker.

The London club would now prefer to sell the 27-year-old in this window in order to bring in longer-term reinforcements such as Bruno Fernandes and Paulo Dybala, since Eriksen's contract is up next year, and he does not want to sign a new deal.

The player initially only really wanted to go to Real Madrid, but they have cooled their interest, leaving United as the only serious bidders.

Eriksen was himself unwilling to move to Old Trafford earlier in the window but he has since become more set in his own desire to leave Spurs now, and is much more open to the idea of going north.

United are hopeful a deal can be concluded over the next 48 hours.

Mauricio Pochettino is meanwhile understood to prefer Eriksen's departure, so he can carry on building with players who will definitely be at Spurs beyond the end of the season.
