Manchester United are closing in on Paul Pogba as they prepare a record-breaking deal for the Frenchman, according to the Daily Mail. United are expected to open with a deal worth around £86m but the eventual fee is likely to be nearer the £100m mark once add-ons for appearances, goals and trophies are all taken into account.

The club are looking to begin formal talks with Juventus to strike out a deal and senior players are reportedly confident that it is only a matter of time before Pogba completes the move to Old Trafford.

Reports from France Football suggest that Manchester City will turn their attention to Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez should they fail to land Leroy Sane this summer. Despite interest from Barcelona, it’s unlikely the Algerian would be guaranteed regular football which could therefore open the door for City to make a move for the £40m-rated winger.

The Manchester side have also made an official approach for West Ham youngster Reece Oxford, according to sources from Sky Sports. The 17-year-old is valued at £15m by the Hammers but the club is looking to hold onto their young prospect. They’ve reportedly already turned down a £10m bid for the player made by Red Bull Leipzig.

Liverpool are in discussion with Newcastle United over a potential move for Georginio Wijnaldum but have yet to meet the Magpies’ asking price. The Tyneside club have valued the 25-year-old at around £27m but no concrete agreement is yet in place, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.

Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has identified the Dutchman as one of his top targets but despite the midfielder’s desire to leave St James’ Park, Newcastle are looking to squeeze every penny from the player.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that the club have made a number of bids for West Brom striker Saido Berahino. Sky Sports understand that a top bid of £20m has been made for Berahino, who recently rejected a new four-year from his club last week, but the Potters have not yet heard a response from their Midlands rivals.

More news from Old Trafford. United are continuing to keep a close eye on Monaco’s Fabinho as Jose Mourinho aims to add the finishing touches to his squad. The club are weighing up whether or not to meet Monaco’s £25m asking price for the Brazilian right-back, the Daily Mail reports.

The Daily Telegraph has also suggested that James Wilson, Tyler Blackett and Will Keane could all be on their way out as Mourinho continues to overhaul his squad. Wilson and Blackett were omitted from the 25-man squad that travelled to Shanghai for United’s tour of China and the club is reportedly willing to listen to offers for 23-year-old Keane.

Lastly, Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign West Ham striker Diafra Sakho, according to the Mirror. The 26-year-old is looking to leave Upton Park after falling out with the club and the Eagles have become the latest side, following Sunderland, West Brom and Swansea, to express an interest in the £15m-rated forward.
