Transfer news: Heurelho Gomes would welcome Tottenham exit - but move is not imminent
The goalkeeper is keen on a switch to PSV
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes would welcome a move to former club PSV Eindhoven, but does not expect to leave White Hart Lane before the summer.
The 32-year-old former Brazil international arrived at Spurs in a reported £7.8million deal in 2008, but has dropped down the pecking order in recent years.
Gomes spent a spell on loan with German side Hoffenheim last season and on Sunday appeared to suggest a return to former club PSV was imminent, having posted a photo of himself on Instagram saying he was off to Eindhoven.
However, Spurs' third-choice goalkeeper posted another photo on Monday morning in a bid to clarify his future, explaining he was not leaving north London just yet.
"Yesterday I shared a picture, and I wrote 'off to Eindhoven', but I didn't say that I was going back to PSV, I went there because I have still got friends there and I went to visit one of them," he said.
"Everyone knows that PSV is very special for me and I hope that I can play there again one day, but it is not the case at the moment, I have been as professional as possible during the time I'm not playing.
"I still have a contract here until the summer and of course I believe I got many years to play at the top level. I will be looking for it, but in the meantime I have to do it right.
"Thank you so much for the all best wishes that I received from my Spurs fans and the welcome messages that I received from my PSV fans, but I'm not going anywhere yet! God bless you all!"
