Transfer news: Iker Casillas drops biggest hint that he is ready to leave Real Madrid after admitting he won't go anywhere to be second choice

Both Manchester City and Arsenal are among clubs monitoring the future of the Spanish Number One after he fell behind Diego Lopez in the Real pecking order

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has given the biggest hint so far that he is ready to quit life at the Santiago Bernabeu in search of regular football after falling behind first-choice Diego Lopez.

Casillas was originally dispatched with under former manager Jose Mourinho following a split in the dressing room, but the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti in the summer had given the Spain Number One hope of a return to his starting berth.

However, Casillas has only been afforded appearances in the Champions League so far this season, and is yet to feature in La Liga rsulting in speculation that he could look to leave his childhood club in an effort to maintain his standing as the Spanish national stopper at next summer’s World Cup.

The 32-year-old was due to attend a training camp in Doha as part of the Iker Casillas Foundation for 20 chosen young goalkeepers from around the world, but he chose not to attend due to the possibility of his wife Sara Carbonero giving birth imminently.

Instead, he held a conference call with the youngsters to give advice from his illustrious career, before taking questions from some of the aspiring goalkeepers.

One of those in attendance asked whether the speculation regarding a move to Manchester City was true, with the Premier League club currently managed by his former coach Manuel Pellegrini. Casillas’ response gave the biggest indication that he is prepared to leave the club he joined as a fresh-faced nine-year-old.

“I'm not going anywhere I'm going to be No.2,” answered Casillas, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal as well as a number of other clubs across Europe.

Casillas is currently contracted to Real until the summer of 2017, but is appearing increasingly more likely to leave before his deal expires after being overtaken by Lopez.
