Manchester United winger Nani looks set to leave the club at the end of the season less than a year after signing a new five-year contract, his agent has confirmed.

However, any move away from the club could be hindered by his high wage demands, which could pose a stumbling block for interested club’s that include Italian side Fiorentina.

Nani was linked with an Old Trafford exit last season after he was shown a straight red card in the Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid, with the club’s hierarchy finally losing patience with a player who never really matched his built-up potential.

However, David Moyes’s arrival after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson saw the Portuguese international handed another chance, and Moyes was so impressed with what he saw from him that he was handed a five-year extension, increasing his wages to a reported £95,000-a-week.

But after making 11 appearances this season, the 27-year-old suffered a serious hamstring injury that sidelined him for over three months, although Moyes revealed that he was fit again in the middle of March and he made his return to action in the 4-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday.

“Nani is back. He had a really bad hamstring injury. But he is back and has trained. Hopefully we get him up to speed very quickly,” Moyes said on March 14.

But it appears his time at United will soon be up, after his agent Andrea Pastorello admitted her is “likely to leave Manchester” come the end of the season, when Moyes is expected to make a host of changes in an attempt to revamp his squad.

“Nani is a very important player and at this time the only thing I can say is that he is likely to leave Manchester,” Pastorello told Violanews.com.

Pastorello also revealed that Fiorentina are in the running for Nani’s signature, having already taken United flop Anderson on loan for the season, and a permanent move for both playerscould be in the pipeline providing all parties involved can reach an agreement.

“The problem for Fiorentina and other Italian clubs is the player’s salary," he added. "But we will evaluate all bids.

“Our relationship with United is great. Fiorentina have to speak with Manchester United about Anderson and maybe there will be an opportunity to talk about Nani, too.”
