Fulham manager Meulensteen proves too tempting an incentive for Morrison

Ravel Morrison has informed West Ham boss Sam Allardyce that he would like to leave Upton Park and be reunited with new Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen, according to reports.

According to Goal.com Fulham made a £5m approach, with add-ons, for the England Under-21 star earlier this month.

The Hammers had been willing to listen to offers, despite Morrison's evident quality, as they plan to reinvest the money into other areas of the first team squad.

Morrison has since told Allardyce that Craven Cottage is his preferred destination after being excited by the prospect of rejoining his old Manchester United coach Meulensteen.

The relegation threatened Cottagers will offer the 20-year-old a vastly improved weekly wage while also adding incentives to his contract should the club preserve their Premier League status.

Morrison currently has an £18m release clause in his West Ham contract while there is another clause that means the East End club would have to quadruple his wages to £60,000-a-week if any suitor were to make an offer worth £10m or more.

Sir Alex Ferguson sold the midfielder to West Ham in 2012 for just £650,000.
