Monaco boss cannot offer reassurances about the Colombian's future

Radamel Falcao’s future remains uncertain after Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim fuelled speculation linking the forward with a loan move to Real Madrid.

The European champions have already strengthened their squad, who also lifted the Copa del Rey, with James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos and hope to secure a initial £10m loan deal for the Colombian striker.

While discussing the reports, largely emanating from the Spanish capital, Jardim was less than reassuring to Monaco supporters hoping Falcao could stay in France.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager told L'Equipe: "For now, he is a Monaco player and I am counting on him."

Having signed for the Ligue 1 side last summer in a deal worth almost £50m, Falcao is believed to have become unsettled after leaving Atletico Madrid and picking up a knee ligaments injury which kept him out of this summer's World Cup.

Should the deal come into fruition, it would represent another major transfer coup for Carlo Ancelotti after landing both Rodriguez and Kroos already.

Set to make his return to first-team action in the Emirates Cup against Valencia this weekend, Jardim was confident about Falcao's chances of making a full recovery.

"I think he will be able to start playing again at the Emirates Cup. He is now in the final phase of his recuperation," the Monaco boss said.
