Transfer news: Tottenham consider cut-price £1.5m move for Dimitar Berbatov
Daniel Levy eyes a return for Berbatov after Fulham make the Bulgarian available in a cut-price deal
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is considering an intriguing £1.5m bid for former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov - despite Tim Sherwood seeing no need to sign new forwards.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Berbatov’s agent has recently admitted his client would consider a move during the winter window and the 32-year-old would surely be attracted by a return to White Hart Lane.
Spurs sold the Bulgarian to Manchester United for £30.75 million in 2008 after he scored twenty-seven Premier League goals in seventy appearances.
The London club have also considered moves for Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic, who has emerged as a target for Inter Milan, and Napoli’s Goran Pandev.
Although Jermain Defoe is set to leave for Toronto FC, Sherwood believes Tottenham can finish the season successfully with just Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane.
He has also insisted that Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli, signed under former manager Andre-Villas Boas in the summer, could be deployed as forwards.
