Emmanuel Adebayor is one of a dozen players West Ham are considering as they continue their search for a striker before the transfer window closes, writes James Olley in the London Evening Standard

The Hammers are looking to bolster their forward line, with Enner Valencia sidelined with a leg injury until December and Andy Carroll struggling to return to full fitness having been out since February with a knee problem.

The Evening Standard reports that the club have compiled a list of 12 strikers under consideration, including Adebayor and Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez.

Adebayor, who has scored 35 Premier League goals in 92 appearances for Tottenham, has also attracted interest from Aston Villa, with Spurs keen to sell at around £5million.

Tottenham may consider a loan deal given their desperation to get Adebayor’s £100,000-a-week wage off their books.

West Ham boss Slavan Bilic only has three fit forwards at present, with Mauro Zarate, Diafra Sakho and Modibo Maiga available for Saturday’s League match against Leicester as they look to build on their impressive win at Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

Speaking at this morning’s press conference ahead of the Leicester game, Bilic said: “There’s not a lot for me to say about transfers.

“We are trying to sign one or two more, not five. But it is hard.”
