Vaishali discusses Chelsea's January transfer window NEW

It has been a nightmare season for Chelsea but could they salvage some pride by conducting effective business in the upcoming January transfer window?

Interim manager Guus Hiddink is likely to want to strengthen up front, as Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao’s struggles leave just Diego Costa as a reliable goal-scoring option.

The defending Premier League champions also lacked any kind of creative spark during their desperate start to the season and have subsequently been linked with a number of attacking-midfield talents.

At the back, could this finally be the window in which they capture Everton defender John Stones? They failed to seal a deal for the England international with four separate bids last summer, despite their target handing in a transfer request.

If Roberto Martinez and co. stand firm again, Chelsea may be forced to look elsewhere.

Who does the Evening Standard’s Vaishali Bhardwaj think Chelsea should target in the upcoming January transfer window?
