It has emerged that Arsenal made a £30m bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez last week.

Although it was rejected, coupled with their £23m swoop for Gonzalo Higuain, it is clear that the image of Arsenal as a penny-pinching club is quickly being consigned to the past.
