Brazil striker Hulk, a transfer target for Chelsea this summer, has joined Zenit St Petersburg from Porto on a five-year deal, the Russian champions said last night.

Zenit paid €40m (£32m) for the 26-year-old striker. Backed by Russian energy giant Gazprom, they also paid a similar sum for Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel from Benfica. Both were signed in time to play in the Champions League where Zenit face Milan, Anderlecht and Malaga in their group.
