Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed personal terms with Manchester United but is now seeking assurances from Jose Mourinho over his role in the team, according to reports.

It is understood the Sweden international's agent Mino Raiola has struck an agreement with United over his client's salary and length of contract.

The 34-year-old is keen on the move but wants assurances from new Manchester United manager Mourinho that he will play a major role at Old Trafford if he joins. Any sort of back-up role would not satisfy the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSG player.

Manchester United already have Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial vying for a place in the side, plus youngster James Wilson will be available again following his loan spell at Brighton.

Ibrahimovic, a free agent following the expiry of his contract at PSG, is not short of offers with Tottenham a potential destination should he have his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
