Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United: Sweden striker rules out immediate return to Malmo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rubbished reports which suggested that he could soon return to his boyhood club Malmo but otherwise remained tight-lipped over his future.

The Sweden international will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer when his current contract expires and has been tipped to become Jose Mourinho’s first signing at Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic enjoys a friendly relationship with the Portuguese coach but, speaking for the first time since Mourinho’s installation in the Old Trafford helm, the 34-year-old striker was giving little away.

"I want you to write your stories so I will be entertained because I want to hear who can make the best story,” he told reporters at a press conference when asked about his future.

“When I'm tired of it, I'll let you know where I am going," he added.

Ibrahimovic did, however, rule out an immediate return to Malmo, the club at which he began his career, by simply declaring himself ‘too good’ for Sweden’s Allsvenskan top-flight.

On Monday, the 34-year-old had admitted that he would like to return to his boyhood team, saying: “I love Malmö and I wish I could play today. I apologise for that, but I will, I will. Just wait for me.”
