Fifa are investigating England supporter chants of a “possible discriminatory” nature during the country’s 2-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia in Moscow on Wednesday.

It is currently unclear what chants are being looked into or what they related to, but the world governing body confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Football Association.

“We can confirm that a report has been filed through the anti-discrimination monitoring system in relation to chants of a possible discriminatory nature by English fans," a Fifa statement read.

"Subsequently, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against The Football Association.”
