Gallian weighs in
India A 207-8
England A 208-7
England A win by 3 wickets
Jason Gallian took a step nearer to senior honours when he produced another superb all-round display to help England A win yesterday's one day international in Ahmedabad.
The 23-year-old Lancashire player's forceful 46 from 43 balls - following a 10-over spell of seam bowling costing only 31 runs - steered England A, who reached 208 for 7, to a three-wicket victory with eight balls to spare.
The win squared the one-day series with one to play, avenging Saturday's controversial six-run defeat at Indore.
David Hemp's 41, from just 53 balls, was full of sumptuous strokes and the Glamorgan left-hander showed again that he has the ability to become a top-flight international cricketer.
The experiment of using Hemp as an opener - to make the most of the fielding restrictions on the first 15 overs - proved a wise one as he and Mark Ramprakash offset the loss of Michael Vaughan to the second ball of the innings by putting on 75 at a rate of five runs per over.
