Foreign Affairs, who landed a huge gamble when winning the John Smith's Cup at York in July, will run in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, his trainer, Sir Mark Prescott, confirmed yesterday. The three-year-old will be supplemented at a cost of £38,000.
Prescott said Foreign Affairs, runner-up in the Ebor Handicap last time out, could easily be outclassed at Longchamp but had a "sporting chance". To run him in the Arc would be "a dream come true" for the horse's trio of owners, dubbed The Speculators.
