Alberto Salazar doping allegations: Pressure grows on Mo Farah's coach after fresh claims

The pressure on Alberto Salazar to break his silence over doping allegations has mounted after another former employee questioned the legality of the American’s methods.

Albert Kupczak, previously a massage therapist at Nike Oregon Project, claimed Salazar carried around testosterone gel in his bag to training camps. Kupczak is one of 20 witnesses who are believed to have recently come forward with accusations against Salazar.

Kupczak, who worked in Portland from 2008 to 2011, also voiced concerns about alleged illegal practices to United States Anti-Doping Agency in June 2012 and called on witnesses to be interviewed under oath to uncover the truth.

Salazar, who coaches Mo Farah, is expected to break his silence prior to the US trials, which get under way on Thursday. He did not reply to the latest allegations but has previously vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying: “I believe in a clean sport.”

But Kupczak claimed in The Guardian: “When we were at an airport altogether Alberto would say, ‘don’t let anyone touch my bag I have my testosterone cream in there – I don’t want anyone to get contaminated accidentally’.

“My thought was if you are taking testosterone for yourself there are so many ways you can do it. You can do it in tablet form, you can do it in injection form, you can do it in an implant. So why risk something that could possibly contaminate the athlete?”
