After claiming three gold medals at London 2012, Allyson Felix has little left to prove.
The 27-year-old American 200-metre runner – the only other triple gold medallist, along with Usain Bolt, inside the Olympic Stadium last summer – had been set to compete today against the Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at the BT GreatCity Games in Manchester over a rare straight 150m, a battle between the world’s best sprinters.
An injury to the Jamaican has ruled her out and Felix said: “It’s a shame she wasn’t able to run as this is a race with a difference. It’s pretty good to be back. England’s always going to be a very special place for me.”
