Kenya's dynamic duo smash records

Kenyan duo Eliud Kiptanui and Helena Kirop both shattered the course records on their way to comfortable wins at the Prague Marathon yesterday. Kiptanui, in only his second marathon, roared to an impressive time of two hours five minutes 39 seconds, while Kirop lived up to her pre-race prediction, winning in 2hr 25min 29sec.

The top three all came in under record time in the men's race, with Ethiopia's Yemane Tsegay second and another Kenyan, Nicholas Koech, in third with times of 2:07:11 and 2:07:23 respectively. Kirop was followed home by Russia's Alevtina Ivanova, who recorded 2.27.36.

Meanwhile, fellow Kenyans Sammy Kosgei and Mary Keitany demolished the existing world records at the BIG 25 kilometres road race in Berlin. Kosgei posted a time of 1:11:50 while Keitany stormed home in a superb 1:19.53.
