Merlene Ottey has her sights on competing at an eighth Olympic Games next year, at the age of 52.

The Jamaican-born former world 200m champion turned 51 last month and competed for her adopted country, Slovenia, in the 4x100m relay in the First League division of the European Team Championships at Izmir in Turkey last weekend.

The Slovenian quartet were disqualified for a faulty handover but Ottey, who ran the anchor leg, said: "If we qualify, I would be happy to be part of the Slovenian relay team in Daegu [at the World Championships in South Korea in August] and in London [at the 2012 Olympics]."
