England international Kojo Mensah-Bonsu is top of Birmingham Bullets' shopping list after a run of defeats convinced coach Lance Randall of the need to beef up his roster.
The 6ft 6in Mensah-Bonsu is due to arrive in England this weekend to join the national squad for three European Championship games later this month. Bullets are also giving one-week contracts to a 6ft 7in American and a 6ft 9in West Indian to try out for the team. "Kojo is high on our list of priorities and we've reached tentative agreement for the other two to practice with us," Randall said. The Bullets host Thames Valley Tigers tonight and play Leicester Riders at Loughborough University tomorrow in the Uni-ball Trophy.
London Towers' coach Nick Nurse must lift his team for the game with Milton Keynes Lions at Crystal Palace tonight, following Wednesday's 97-82 home defeat by FC Barcelona in the Euroleague. "It's a top-of-the-table clash in the South Conference and as big a game as we have played in England this season," Nurse said.
