Commonwealth Games: Slipper thrown at Delhi executive
Critics threw a slipper at the organiser of India's Commonwealth Games and ransacked his office after his arrest on a corruption charge unleashed a new wave of anger over widespread bribery and its effect on the country's reputation.
Suresh Kalmadi has become the focus of anger over India's humiliation after allegations of corruption, construction delays and massive cost overruns for the October event in Delhi. He was arrested on Monday and charged with conspiracy in connection with a contract for timing and scoring equipment secured by a Swiss company – one of many deals being questioned.
