Frankie Dettori rides again for the first time in just over two months today amid his own claims that he may have lost his nerve for the sport.

Frankie Dettori rides again for the first time in just over two months today amid his own claims that he may have lost his nerve for the sport.

Atlantis Prince in Newmarket's Tote Exacta Stakes will be Dettori's first public mount since he narrowly avoided death in a plane crash close to the track on the first day of June. His other mount will be Dim Sums for David Barron in the Tote Scoop6 Nursery.

Dettori has said he fears "losing his bottle", and will know only after today's races if he still possesses the mental fibre to continue his career. However, Sean Woods, Atlantis Prince's trainer, has no worries about his rider. "He's a great jockey and I'm sure he'll be fine," Woods said. "Frankie's coming back from a plane crash, not a riding accident. He may have changed his priorities but I'm sure as soon as he gets the thrill back of riding again he'll be as hungry as ever."

During his absence Dettori has missed around 50 winners including the horse which more than any has speeded up his recuperation, Dubai Millennium.
