Kwan Browne, the Trinidad international and East Grinstead's new coach, scored twice in the 7-1 trouncing of Barford Tigers as Division Two of the National League got under way yesterday. Dwain Quan Chan also scored twice with Ben Payne scoring three in the last 15 minutes to give the former Premier league side victory.

Havant, another former Premier side, with ex-Grinstead striker Ian Pattison, now now player coach, were also in scoring mode with a 5-1 victory over Indian Gymkhana, Tim Davenport scoring twice.

In the battle of the two newcomers at Leek, Old Georgians came away with the points thanks to a first half hat-trick from James Tindall. Another new player coach, Renwick Irvine, saw his new club Lewes start with a 2-0 win at home to Hounslow & Ealing.

Charlotte Hartley, Hightown's promising 17 year old, scored twice in their surprise 4-2 defeat of double Champions Slough at their new ground at Upton Court on Saturday, the opening day the of Women's Premier Division. A fine stick save from debutante goalkeeper Fran Hinnett gave Hightown the confidence to move forward and take advantage of some hesitant Slough defending. Sally Walton, Hightown's outstanding defender, completed their win with two well stuck penalty corner goals.

There were good victories for Chelmsford, 2-1 winners away to Fyffes Leicester, thanks to two strikes from Lisa Wooding, and Olton And West Warwick at Clifton who twice came from behind to win 3-2.
