Hightown won the women's Premier League title with a 3-1 win over their nearest rivals Chelmsford, thanks to a double from player-coach Tina Cullen.

In the Men's Premier the top two teams swapped places when Cannock beat Reading 4-3. Surbiton stayed in third place despite a 3-3 draw at Canterbury. Simon Lanyon scored twice for the First Division champions Firebrands in their 2-1 victory at Belper.

In Auckland, Japan won the women's Olympic Qualifying tournament with a 1-0 win over Spain to register their first ever major international tournament success. New Zealand beat Germany 3-2 to take the Bronze medal. There was little consolation for Great Britain in a 4-1 win against Ireland to finished in 7th place - well short of a qualifying place.

Britain's men, who qualified for Athens earlier this month, have been drawn in the same pool as World Champions Germany, Pakistan, Korea, Spain and Egypt; with The Netherlands, Australia, India, Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa in the second pool.
