Great Britain's women completed their preparations for next month's Olympic qualifiers in New Zealand with a 4-0 win against Russia at Bisham Abbey last night.

However, the flattering scoreline did not reflect what was a disappointing performance in which Britain gave away too many passes and wasted numerous scoring opportunities.

After 21 minutes of aimless play Mel Clewlow opened the scoring for Britain, and minutes later Helen Grant added a second. Britain continued to move forward after the interval but did not score again until the 63rd minute, when Linda Clement found the net. Clewlow completed with scoring with her second penalty corner in the dying minutes.

Bobby Crutchley, the disappointed Great Britain coach, said: "It was an improved Russian performance which stifled a sloppy Great Britain performance."
