Belfast Giants recorded a 3-2 win over Cardiff Devils in a bad-tempered Elite League encounter in Wales.

Jason Bowen and Leigh Jamieson put Belfast 2-0 up before a second 10-minute penalty on Mike Ware meant an early shower for the Devils captain. Maxwell reduced the arrears and Jason Ruff restored Giants' two-goal cushion before Vezio Sacratini set up a tense finish. Despite pulling the netminder, Eoin McInerney, the Devils could not find the game-tying goal.

Nottingham Panthers bounced back from 2-0 down to beat Manchester Phoenix 3-2 at the MEN Arena. Steelers continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 6-0 shutout of Basingstoke Bison.
