Ice Hockey: Panthers end wait
The Nottingham Panthers ended their three-year wait for a win at Bracknell with a convincing 8-2 victory over the Bees in the Superleague on Sunday.
The Panthers, who had lost their last 10 games at the Bee Hive, scored seven goals after falling behind. Mark Cadotte and Eric Bertrand put Bracknell ahead after Claude Savoie scored for the Panthers.
Goals from Patrik Wallenberg, Greg Hadden, Frank Evans, Steve Moria, Lee Jinman, PC Drouin and Clayton Norris, however, condemned the Bees to defeat.
Jonathan Weaver scored a hat-trick as Ayr Scottish Eagles beat the champions, Sheffield Steelers, 5-2 at the Centrum Arena. Kevin Miehm had put Steelers ahead but Weaver's treble – which sandwiched a Dino Bauba marker – steered Eagles to their fifth successive home win.
Ayr's win cut Belfast Giants' lead at the top to three points after they slumped to a 5-2 defeat by London Knights at the London Arena.
