The British National League disciplinary committee has banned the Dundee Stars defenceman Scott Young for two years.
The Stars captain, who has returned to Canada, struck the linesman Marco Coenen and the referee, Paul Staniforth, in a 4-4 tie with Hull Stingrays on 9 November, having been ejected on a five-plus-game slashing penalty before picking up a match ban for abuse of an official. The 38-year-old left the penalty box to confront officials before being led away by players.
Young will be ineligible to play in any league which is under the International Ice Hockey Federation legislation until 9 November 2005.
