The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has died in hospital from injuries suffered earlier this week in a fall from a pick-up truck.

Police said Henry "came out" of the back of a pick-up truck being driven by his fiancée in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Drafted in 2005, Henry was arrested several times before being released by the Bengals in 2007 and then re-signed on a two-year contract with the team before the 2008 season.
