Chris Sorensen, of Denmark, celebrates after crossing the line to win the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia at a misty Monte Terminillo. Sorensen chased down Simoni Stortoni to finish some 30sec ahead of the Italian. Kazakhstan's Alexandre Vinokourov retained his overall lead, finishing on the same time as Australia's Cadel Evans, a minute behind Sorensen.
