Ding Junhui followed up his Welsh Open triumph 10 days ago bycrashing out of the World Open in China in the first round. A surprisingly under-par Ding was thrashed 5-1 by wild-card entrant Jin Long.

After storming into a 3-1 lead before the interval, Ding's fellow Chinese Jin maintained his impressive momentum, hitting a composed break of 76 in the fifth frame before clinching a famous victory.

World champion John Higgins avoided any slips with a comfortable 5-3 victory over Marco Fu.
