Snooker: Robertson is too strong for Hendry
Neil Robertson advanced to the quarter-finals of the Masters at Wembley Arena yesterday with a 6-3 win over seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry. Australian Robertson, the reigning Crucible champion, recorded three breaks in the 80s as he kick-started his campaign with a comfortable win. He will face Ronnie O'Sullivan's conqueror Mark Allen in the next round.
Hendry's long potting let him down again, the same failing which saw him eliminated from last month's UK Championship by Mark Williams.
"It took a bit of time to get used to the table but towards the end I made some good breaks," Robertson said. "I went 4-2 up and won the next with an 80-odd break. A 5-2 lead is pretty useful, and I potted a good last red and got the job done." Looking ahead to the match with Allen, Robertson said: "There are some things to improve on. We've only played once or twice before, but he had a great win against Ronnie and I'm sure it will be a great match."
