Today

Let's hope that Gavin Henson remembers to take off his dancing shoes and put on his boots as he makes his Saracens debut at home to Wasps at Wembley. There's also top-notch traditional Boxing Day footballing fayre, and let's all hope that England's cricketers are boxing clever after day one of the Fourth Test in Melbourne.

Tomorrow

Don't get off the couch just yet – there's Arsenal versus Chelsea on tonight, while hardy rugby league fans can take in the Lancashire "friendly" between Leigh and Salford.

Tuesday

A couple more top-flight crackers between Birmingham-Man United and Man City-Aston Villa. There may be slightly smaller crowds at the Scottish Cup third-round replays between Annan and Brechin, Beith and Airdrie, and Threave and Stenhousemuir.

Wednesday

The festive football God just keeps on giving as Chelsea host Bolton and the Wolves go to Anfield, while there will be an emotional return to Nottingham Forest for the Derby manager (and regular Independent on Sunday reader) Nigel Clough.

Thursday

Sid Waddell spontaneously combusts as Phil "the Power" Taylor closes in on his 108th world title at the Ally Pally darts.

Friday

2010 goes out in style as the Cardiff Blues do battle with the Ospreys in the Magners League. Expect punch-ups on and off the pitch.

Saturday

New Year's Day and the traditional Scottish stramash between Hearts and Hibs is re-enacted at Tynecastle. Man United go to West Bromwich, Arsenal travel to Birmingham and Man City are hosting everyone's favourite second team, Blackpool.
