And it's come to something when England's cricketers must win a Twenty20 match in Trinidad to salvage a modicum of pride.

Tomorrow

England's women cricketers, on the other hand, are good and should beat West Indies to reach the World Cup final. Swimming fans should head to Sheffield to see Rebecca Adlington's first competitive dips since her Beijing bonanza.

Tuesday

Arsenal and Hull meet for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals, while the punters are bound to flock to cricket's Pro Arch Trophy in Sharjah, where Fly Emirates take on Essex.

Wednesday

Aberdeen fans haven't had too much to shout about since, well, Alex Ferguson headed south, but if they can beat Dunfermline in this replay and then see off Falkirk, they will reach the Scottish Cup final.

Thursday

Thankfully, Manchester City are the only British team left in the Uefa Cup. Tonight, a nation yawns as they cruise past AaB Aalborg to reach the last eight.

Friday

Can all the English clubs avoid each other in the quarter-final draw for the Champions' League? The draws for the semi-finals and final are also made, which is, frankly, silly.

Saturday

Six Nations D-Day. France look to pile on the points in Rome and the Calcutta Cup is a mere sideshow before the big one: Wales v Ireland in Cardiff.
